EXPERIENCE
Jan is a registered nurse of 26 years. Her last 19 years have been in Senior Leadership in Acute Care Behavioral and Detox/Addiction Programs, serving as DON and CNO in Arizona, Southern California, and Indiana. Jan is known for her successful strategies on hiring, retention, and scheduling for safe and effective patient outcomes.
Jan began her career as a surgical and wound care nurse for a Plastic Surgical Practice, specializing in reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries. Her next few years were spent supervising outpatient respiratory clinic operations and serving on a multi-disciplinary team training interns and residents at the IU School of Medicine.
Jan also has Medical Sales experience with GE Healthcare and Siemens International, developing treatment protocols and providing life support and anesthesia equipment to major hospital ICU’s, Surgical Suites, and Respiratory Departments in Indiana, Michigan, California, and Hawaii. Jan received numerous awards as sales person of the year for consistently exceeding sales goals and customer satisfaction.
As Manager of Adult Services at Community Health Nertwork’s Behavioral Health Pavilion in Indianapolis, Jan partnered with renowned Addictionologist Timothy J. Kelly to develop the Integrated Recovery Program for treating individuals with substance abuse illnesses. She was instrumental in the business development and expansion, which tripled the amount of patients served. She also served as a member of the Pain Management Corporate Committee to address network-wide protocols.
During her time at Community Health Network, Jan also joined the Office of Patient Experience as a Leadership Consultant, covering 5 acute care hospitals and all affiliated outpatient behavioral care facilities. Jan was recognized for successfully increasing patient satisfaction, as well as employee engagement and retention in her covered areas through her coaching leadership, ranging from the C-Suites to frontline managers.
Jan is highly focused on the current nursing crisis and fresh strategies to alleviate nursing turnover and strained patient-to-nurse ratios. She holds a BSN/BA degree in Nursing and Business Administration from Indiana University.
